A Meeting of Like Minds: The Close Relationship between Sculptors Longman and French

Join us for an online presentation focusing on the remarkable achievements of sculptor Evelyn Beatrice Longman, the only female student and assistant in the studio of Daniel Chester French. The two artists shared a close professional and personal relationship, which is documented in letters and photographs. This talk will highlight the many intersections and cross-currents between their works, and will feature images of public sculpture by both artists in Boston, Hartford, and New York. Dana Pilson is a curatorial researcher at Chesterwood.
