About the Event
A Cottage Court is a group of small houses arranged around a common courtyard. A century ago, Cottage Courts were common in Southern California, but waned in popularity as people demanded ever-larger houses. But more recently, as people have become interested in downsizing and community-oriented housing arrangements, Cottage Courts have experienced a renaissance, especially in the Pacific Northwest. Now, the Planning Board is proposing a Warrant Article for the May Town Meeting that would make it possible to develop Cottage Courts here in Williamstown. The evening's program will include a short presentation by Planning Board member Ken Kuttner on Cottage Courts in general, and the specifics of the Warrant Article, with ample time set aside for questions and answers.
