About the Event
In our region, the autumn season brings out many amazing mushroom species. The instructors will explain the fascinating science of mushroom identification, and you’ll hear great tips on mushroom photography and mushroom hunting tools, as they lead us into the forest to study and collect local fungi in their natural habitats.
Please do you best to go to the slideshow talk in the morning if you sign up for the walk! Location of the walk will be shared on the day of the event. It will not be difficult, but don’t wear your best shoes and clothes. Please do your best to carpool since parking will be limited. Students should turn the ringers off of their cameras/phones.
About the Instructors: Ryan T. Bouchard is the author and photographer of the groundbreaking book-and-calendar called Gourmet Mushrooms of the Northeast 2019. Emily Schmidt also studies our local mushroom species (and wild plants as well), and teaches creative cooking that highlights their many unique flavors. Together, they created The Mushroom Hunting Foundation, and have educated thousands of people about safely enjoying America’s incredible wild mushrooms.
