The David and Joyce Milne Library (Williamstown, MA) is located in the center of Williamstown, along Route 2 (1095 Main Street) next to the junction of Routes 2 and 7 in the northwest corner of Massachusetts. The Milne Library is located directly across from the site of the old Williams Inn (no longer standing) on the eastern side of the common.

We are about one hour’s drive from the Massachusetts Turnpike and Interstates 91, 90, and 87. Driving time from Boston or New York is about three hours; from Albany, NY, about one hour.

Directions from New York City and points south:

  • Take I-87 north to I-84 east

  • Take I-84 east to the Taconic Parkway north

  • Take the Taconic Parkway north to Route 295 east

  • Take Route 295 east to Route 22 north

  • Take Route 22 north to Route 43 east

  • Take Route 43 east to Route 7 north

  • Take Route 7 north to Route 2 east

  • Directions from Boston and points east

  • Take Route 2 west all the way to Williamstown


  • Take the Mass Pike (I-90) west to the Lee exit

  • Take Route 20 west to Route 7 north

  • Take Route 7 north to Route 2 east


  • Take the Mass Pike (I-90) west to I-91 north

  • Take I-91 north to Route 2 west

  • Take Route 2 west to Williamstown

  • Directions from Albany, NY, and points west

  • Take Route 7 east to Route 278

  • Turn right on Rote 278 to Route 2

  • Turn left on Route 2 east


  • Take Route 43 east to Route 7 north in South Williamstown

  • Turn left onto Route 7 north and follow in to Williamstown’s Field Park
