I

My little old dog:

A heart-beat

At my feet.

II Spring

A winter wind,

Primroses,

And the new furrow.

III Friendship

The silence of midnight,

A dying fire,

And the best unsaid....

excerpt from "Lyrical Epigrams" by Edith Wharton

Poetry Readings in April!

Wednesday, April 15th 6:00 pm

Tuesday, April 28th at 5:30

The Milne Public Library is also celebrating National Poetry Month with our yearly Poetry Month Challenge. This year's challenge is to create an ACROSTIC POEM. An acrostic poem is a poem in which certain letters of each line combine to spell out a word when read vertically. These poems can be about anything-your favorite animal, a food you love, a time of day. Stop by to pick up a packet with examples and a guide for creating your poem. All poems returned by May 1st will be entered to win a $30 gift card to a local business in the following catergories: Adults (19+), Teens (13-18), and Children (12 & under). Packets available in the Children's Room, Circulation Desk, Teen Room, and in Spanish in the front lobby.

Deadline to return entries is April 30, 2026!
