From ReFed.org "In 2023, 31% of all food in the U.S. went unsold or uneaten-and most of that ended up as waste."
According to The Natural Resources Defense Council (nrdc.org), "Household food waste accounts for 40 to 50 percent of all food wasted in the United States."
But fear not Williamstown residents. There is so much we can do in our literal and proverbial backyards to make a difference!
Local ways to make a difference...
Backyard composting.
Check out these YouTube videos by Pure Living for Life and Growit Buildit for simple tips to backyard composting. A reminder that backyard composting works best without meat or dairy items as these items could attract critters and require a hot compost style (here is a useful HOT COMPOST PDF GUIDE) to break down quickly.
