The Seed Library has returned! Find non-GMO and (mostly) organic seeds of all kinds that you can take with you to grow vegetables, herbs, flowers and fruit.
Below are some updates, basic guidelines and a few links to gardening resources. Please email kwilliams@cwmars.org with any questions!
Many more seeds have arrived and been packaged, as of the week of 4/20! Please scroll down to see the most current list.
It will be very similar to last year, but we ask that you take up to five packets per visit. Those under the age of 18 may take seeds with the help of an adult. Please tally which seeds you have taken on the sheet provided.
Seeds are grouped by type and then arranged alphabetically by name. Quantity of seeds in each package are intended for smaller, home gardens.
All seeds are non-GMO; most are organic.
The Hopi Black Dye Sunflowers sent to us by the Common Seed Project have run out (but we have plenty of the Mammoth Grey Sunflower Seeds). If you have success with the Hopi Sunflower Seeds, the Common Seed folks would love to know about it and receive any photos you take as well.
Consider your site before selecting seeds; the needs of seeds vary.
How much sunlight do you have?
How much space do you have?
As you make progress, please take photos of your garden work! Please email pics to kwilliams@cwmars.org, and we hope to share them here towards the end of the season.
Provide your email address if you’d like any Seed Library or gardening-related news from the library, or if you'd like to help us with packing seeds into smaller envelopes. Email Kira at kwilliams@cwmars.org or add your name to the list that's in in the library.
This year, we will be accepting any seeds from your produce to us if you are indeed collecting them! Envelopes will be provided.... please stay tuned.
We have Gardening Tools in the Thingdom!
Sharon Wyrrick, a local farmer who gave workshops here last year, provided this helpful handout:

Garden beds at the Milne
This year we'll have THREE standing garden beds in the courtyard that patrons can access. If you'd like to be involved in planting and maintaining these gardens, please email kwilliams@cwmars.org!
The beds also include Stockbridge beans - originally grown by the Stockbridge-Munsee Mohican Indians. You can learn more about the crops the Stockbridge-Munsee have grown for centuries in this presentation with Lucy and Ben Grignon.

A huge thank you goes out to the Friends of the Milne Public Library who have made it possible for us to acquire a large quantity of seeds in bulk and repackage them into household-sized quantities.
Thank you also to the following organizations for donating seeds!
