We will once again recognize and host events for Climate Preparedness Week which is the last week of every September! Many Massachusetts Libraries collaborate with Communities Responding to Extreme Weather (CREW) on Climate Preparedness Week to prepare communities for extreme weather by offering programs about emergency preparedness and the intersection of climate change and social justice.
This year's theme is "Caring for the Earth, Yourself, and Your Community."
Here in Williamstown, the David & Joyce Milne Public Library is hosting several programs:
Visit our Eco-Fair!
Sunday, September 21st, 1:30-3:30 p.m. Community Eco-Fair
Come to a book talk!
Wednesday, September 25th, 6:00 -7:00 p.m. Book Talk: Climate Fiction and the Future of Climate Change in the Berkshires, with David Guenette
And a month later... enjoy a talk and guided hike!
Saturday, October 25th, at 11:00 a.m. New England Hiking Presentation with Jeff Romano, followed by a hike with Jeff!
The Pioneer Valley Library Cooperative is also publicizing all of the Climate Preparedness Week events that are hosted by libraries in Western Massachusetts. And, you can view a list of all Climate Prep Week events throughout Massachusetts on the CREW website.
And... Rocio Carrera, our Teen Librarian, has created a blog about the environmental effects of Fast Fashion. Check it out!
Did you know that the Milne Public Library now has a Sustainability page on the website? There we talk about our sustainability efforts, which include solar panels, heat pumps, a pollinator garden maintained by Bee Friendly Williamstown, a composting service that you can sign up for year-round, and a Seed Library offering free seeds in the Spring. Inside the building we have available a refillable water bottle fountain, reusable mugs at our coffee station, and unbleached paper towels in our bathrooms. In addition, we are an official Cooling Center in Williamstown!

I'm very impressed with the collaboration between the libraries and Communities Responding to Extreme Weather (CREW)! This proves the vital role of libraries as information hubs not just for culture but for community survival. Hosting programs on the intersection of climate change and social justice is a positive and inspiring action. The feeling of being fully equipped with knowledge to face global climate challenges is as satisfying as finally discovering the secret and conquering the hardest stage of the Sprunki Game. Prepare for the future!

Just as we need strategic planning for the environment, job seekers can benefit from careful planning in their career journeys. A professional CV writer in Kuwait can help you highlight your skills and experience, making sure you’re ready to seize new opportunities, especially in fields related to sustainability and climate action.
